For serious golfers South Africa has a host of world-renowned courses. Almost all are set in breathtaking landscapes and are open throughout the year. The rough could be the beach, an open Savannah, subtropical forest or parched desert. South Africa offers golfers a chance to putt on oiled greens, drive over mightily rivers and brave water holes inhabited by wily crocodiles and grass-munching hippos. This course is a Gary Player Design course and was the host to the World Cup of Golf in 1996. The course is located in one of the more beautiful locations in the Western Cape situated to nearby the beautiful Vergelegen Wine Estate nestled at the foot of the Helderberg mountain in Somerset West.

FANCOURT GOLF
AND COUNTRY CLUB ESTATE

Fancourt which is located in George, has been voted the premier resort in South Africa by the country's hotel federation. It's setting almost exhausts superlatives, as do the hotel and grounds. Professional golfers continually rate the course as the best-conditioned course and best venue on the South African PGA Tour. Fancourt will host The President's Cup tournament to be played in November 2003.

HUMEWOOD GOLF CLUB

Humewood is a seaside course located close to the center of Port Elizabeth. The course is characterized by sand dunes, thick coastal bush, swales, humps and hollows. It has hosted the South African Open four times and the South African Amateur on eight occasions. The course is right next to Algoa Bay and wind is frequently a factor to take into consideration when playing.

SILVER LAKES COUNTRY CLUB

This private club is part of an up-market residential estate which is situated in genuine bushveld country, 20 kilometers east of Pretoria. As the name of the club implies, there is an abundance of lakes and attractive water features running through this spectacular course.
