LAKE
NAIVASHA:
THE PEARL IN THE RIFT VALLEY
Spread out over 43 square miles, a pearl in
the bosom of the Kenya Rift Valley, the waters of Lake Naivasha
glisten silver as the sun slopes swiftly towards the west. Purest
and highest of all the Rift lakes, Naivasha is also a bird sanctuary

The Masai Mara is Kenya's finest wildlife
sanctuary. Everything about this reserve is outstanding. The wildlife
is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals
are never out of sight. Birds, too, are prolific as well over
450 species have been recorded, among them 57 species of birds
of prey. The climate is gentle, rarely too hot and well spread
rainfall year round. Between July and October, when the great
wildebeest migration is in the Mara the sensation is unparalleled..
It is estimated that more than half a million wildebeest enter
the Mara from the Serengeti creating an unimaginable experience.
And, the largest of the herds are generally located grazing nearby
Keekorok Lodge. In the Mara River large pools of hippo are found
along with many large size crocodiles. And, the Mara is filled
with predators, especially lion where sometimes the prides will
number in the 20's and 30's. The combination of a gentle climate,
scenic splendor and untold numbers of wildlife make the Masai
Mara Kenya's most popular inland destination.
