
LIWONDE NATIONAL
PARK
Liwonde National Park is situated in the south
of Malawi and is Malawi's premier wildlife reserve. Liwonde incorporates
the huge and scenic Shire River as well as quiet backwaters and
lagoons, marshes, open savanna country, woodland and hills. As
a result of the wide variety of habitats, there is a great diversity
of plant, animal and birdlife present. The birdlife is particularly
good, possible the best birding location in central and southern
Africa. Elephant and sable antelope occur in large numbers
as do hippo, crocodile, impala, waterbuck, lion, and leopard.
THE LIVINGSTONIA BEACH HOTEL
Shaded by towering acacia trees, this welcoming
little resort hotel lies in a splendid situation of the quiet
shores of the vast Lake Malawi. Here the sparkling waters offer
sailing and excellent snorkeling, wind-surfing, canoeing and water
skiing. At the location the only sounds to echo across the pastel
perfection of the dawn are the haunting cries of the fish eagles
and the rhythmic lapping of the waters of Lake Malawi.
