GARDEN ROUTE
The Garden Route runs parallel to a coastline
which features lakes, mountains, golden beaches, cliffs and dense
indigenous forests. On this enchanting stretch of coast, holiday
resorts from the simple to the luxurious cater for fitness fanatics
as well as the indolent. Generally those who tour the Garden Route
will begin their journey either in Cape Town traveling north or
from Port Elizabeth traveling south. One should spend some time
traveling this route to visit some of the beautiful seaside villages
such as Knysna, Wilderness, Sedgefield, George, Plettenberg Bay
and even a side trip to Oudtshoorn, Capital of the Little Karoo.
SUN CITY
Two hours from Johannesburg by road lies the
incredible Sun City entertainment complex. This area is a sprawling
network of hotels, golf courses, swimming pools, dams, water features,
sporting facilities, entertainment venues, gaming casinos, restaurants
and even an artificial bit of ocean-island beach front located
at The Palace. The Palace Hotel is the flagship of the Sun City
complex. It is one of the most innovative and stunningly different
tourist attractions in the world. Golf lovers have a choice of
two excellent courses in Sun City, both of which were designed
by South African golfing great, Gary Player. Nearby, is the noted
Pilanesberg National Park, the fifth-largest national park in
the country. The Sun City complex rates among the most extravagant
in the world and is hugely popular with both local and foreign
tourists.
